Intern (Alumnus)

Spent summer 2023 at IIASA and came back in spring 2024 to work on his thesis.
Bio
I am originally from Nigeria, currently a PhD student in Physical Geography at the University of Manchester, UK. My research interests - are forest ecology, urban forestry, forest disturbance, GIS and remote sensing applications, forest restoration and climate change mitigation. While at IIASA, I have been involved in weekly sports activities, especially playing football - I enjoyed it to relieve the stress of research.
In his own words about FLAM:
I used FLAM to simulate regional forest activities in the Catalonia region of Spain. The FLAM was able to capture the seasonal and annual temporal patterns of forest fires in the study area. The model is intuitive to use, especially since the computational requirements have been minimized by running it on the local IIASA server and by moving to a Python environment. It is now crucial to provide clear documentation for general users. This documentation will help users understand the underlying philosophy and provide all the necessary information to effectively run the model for fire dynamics analysis. I believe that this model will be widely accepted and used by various researchers.
